My own K1 Visa Experience

Before anything else, my story begins through a common friend. Steve (my now husband) knows my friend online for quiet a while, then he is planning to visit the Philippines and wanted to check out the beauty of the country and he wanted to meet some friends also to talk to while he is in the country.

So my friend give my number to him and he start calling me on the phone April 20, 2006, sending emails each other and talking online. May 18, 2006 is our first meet, I felt so nervous and don’t know what to do because this is really my first time to meet a friend from other country. In our first meeting we went to beach with my cousins and our common friend then he played tennis with my uncle, we don’t have much time to spend alone together but he really appreciate that moment.

May 22, 2006 when Steve flew back to United States, even we spend a little time with each other during his first visit we felt comfortable to each other and he still calling me for almost 5 times a day and we chat sometimes, during that period he start courting and he express his feeling to me and it just take for less than a week we become girlfriend and boyfriend. It’s so funny because we both don’t remember how he court me, we just talking and talking then later on we realized we are talking about our wedding…..

Yeah, we are talking about wedding already, but before we decide Steve call my mom and my uncle to ask their permission to marry me and he doesn’t have problem about it.

We plan our wedding and we scheduled it on September 3, 2006 and everything is so good and cool but it was not official married. That was my dream wedding the venue was beach/garden wedding. We don’t waste any time after our wedding we went to Boracay for our honeymoon and Steve really appreciate the Philippines and he said it is so beautiful and it’s like paradise.

Of all the happiness that we shared during our honeymoon I felt sad and lonely in my heart because soon Steve will leave me and he needs to go back to United States. Well, my fear is happening. Steve leaves the Philippines September 12, 2006 and as the time and days passed it became harder and harder for both of us to be apart from each other.

For all the sadness and loneliness Steve file petition for me so we will be together so soon and no missing each other anymore. Steve did a smart move in filing the petition for me. He knew that Spousal Visa (K-3) takes longer than Fiancée Visa (K-1) so he filed Fiancée Visa and we did not release any documents or any pictures from our wedding because it might give problem to the petition that he filed. He is really lot’s smarter because he filed the petition before our wedding he didn’t wait or waste any time of it. He filed the petition July 8, 2006 and it was approved September 19, 2006 from the Department of Homeland Security.

More soon………..
